Mexico Trips

Before we moved across the country Ty and I were blessed to go to Mexico twice! Yes we have the best parents ever! My parents took us to Puerto Vallarta in May and Ty's parents took us to Playa Del Carmen in June. Both trips were amazing, and we would go again in a heart beat!

Shrimp Burritos! Ty asked me yesterday if we could look for a shrimp burrito reciepe... he is craving them! My Parents stop at the same dive restaurant for these shrimp burritos as soon as they land in Mexico and before they get on the plane to come home. Tyler and I know why now...they are delicious!

Cheers to a Great Vacation!

Laying by the pool, reading and having someone bring you drinks is my kinda trip! Ty and my Dad finished 3 books, while my Mom and I only read 2!

Dinner was always a highlight... Especially at the restaurant "Donkey Hotey" or Don Quixote... you were close Mom!

Our balcony view... Wish you were here!

Thanks for a memorable trip Dad & Mom! We loved relaxing by the pool, snorkeling, boat rides with Alonzo, massages & pedicures on the beach, Dad jumping in the pool with his iPhone, and of course the shrimp burritos!

Ty and I had such great time with his parents and little brother! There is never a dull moment with the Hicks! I miss the special drinks...especially the Mint Mojitos...so refreshing!

Yes the beaches are really this beautiful! The 5 of us got used to this view very easily!

The guys dressed up for dinner...No Jeans allowed... Sorry!

The Best/Craziest Adventure we have been apart of ... Snorkeling with WHALE SHARKS!  We took a 2 hour boat ride in a wild rain storm to where there was no land in sight. Then 2 by 2 we entered the water to swim next to a 25-30 ft whale sharks. It truly was an amazing experience that we will never forget!

This is a WHALE SHARK!

Thanks for an incredible trip! We loved bargain shopping, snorkeling w/ whale sharks, the clear blue ocean, scuba diving, playing cards, and drinking Dos Equis... NOT!  Well only when we were thirsty! :)

Night at the "Downs"

The night of Tyler's first day of orientation the school provided all the first years tickets to a horse race at the famous, Churchill Downs race track. We were so excited for our first historical Kentucky site!

MY MOM, TYLER, & ME

The arena and track were beautiful and it was definitely the place to be on a Friday night!

Of course we had to try the food. My mom & I got bourbon sausages with onions & yummy mustard!

The horses are so strong and pretty! The sound you hear as they round the corner is so cool!

Tyler couldn't take it any longer he had to get in on the action!  He bet $2 twice and lost both times.

We had such an amazing time and met a lot of great people. Even though it was the hottest Kentucky night we have had so far, we still enjoyed ourselves, sweaty n' all!  It was fun that my mom was still visiting so she was able to come with us, she is the best! Tyler and I are for sure going again!

The Hicks made it to Kentucky!

Tyler and I set out for our long road trip on Friday June 24th. Along with us was Ty's Dad and My Mom. The 4 of us traveled for 2.5 days, 25 hours, and 1600 miles! We travel through Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, and finally arrived to our new home, KENTUCKY! To stay awake my Mom and I kept track of all the different state license plates we passed. We saw 24 out of the 50 states... pretty good if you ask me. Towards the end we thought of another good game... we should have counted how many dead animals we passed.
Due to a bad truck accident ahead of us we were at a dead stop for over an hour in the middle of nowhere, just out side of Cheyenne. Tyler came back to our car to check on us. :)

Dinner in Kansas City. Tyler and Ron @ Anthony's.
Nancy and Lauren. This Italian restaurant had amazing food and the nicest people!

HOME SWEET HOME!
When we arrived at our apartment in Louisville, there were 12 LDS guys waiting to help us move in. My Mom and Ron starting crying, they knew Ty and I were going to be well taken care of.  Because of the help Ron and Nancy provided, we were able to make our apartment a home! Ty and I feel so blessed to have such great parents!

Our bedroom, Thanks Ty for hanging the drapes.

Family room, My mom made us that darling green window valence.

Ron and Tyler did a great job mounting the T.V.

Tyler's NEW office!

Louisville has been great so far. I never knew there were so many different shades of green! Our Apartment couldn't be located in a better place! We are 10-15 mins away from, Costco, Walmart, the Movie Theatre, our Temple and Church, and even a Chick-Fil-A! Tyler's school is downtown, it's only 20-25 mins away. We are looking forward to seeing more of the city and popular sites.
We can't wait for our family and friends to come see us, The "Hicks" in Kentucky!
